Describe a difficult work situation / project and how you overcame it.

談談你在工作中遇到的困難和你的解決方式。這也是一個面試中經常被問到的高頻問題，外企面試中尤其喜歡用這種自主發揮行的問題來考量candidate的綜合能力。在回答這個問題之前，我們首先要思考一下interviewer想通過這個問題了解candidate的哪些能力。

1. Interviewer想通過這個問題考察candidate如何面對工作中棘手的問題。

2. 根據candidate解決困境的方法可以瞭解其與人合作及共同的能力。

知道了interviewer的意圖，那我們就需要有的放矢，在自己的“故事”裡著重突出自己以上兩方面的能力。比如你是一個manager，由於公司發展策略原因現在需要你去layoff幾個手下的員工，這種問題最為棘手。那一方面為了公司的利益必須要釋放掉一些同事，另一方面又要採取堅定又溫和的方式與被釋放的同事談這個事情。下面就是一個這方面的例子供大家參考：

As a manager, the most difficult decisions I make involve layoffs. Before making those tough decisions, I always think carefully about what is best for the business and my employees. While I do not relish making those kinds of choices, I do not shy away from this part of my job. A few years ago, I had to let some employees go due to the company's plan. This was a hard decision that was ultimately necessary for the good of the company and everyone working for the organization.

Decisions I have to make within a team are difficult, only because these decisions take more time and require deliberate communication between team members. For example, I was working on a team project, and my colleagues and I had to make a number of choices about how to use our limited budget. Because these decisions involved group conversations, our team learned how to communicate effectively with one another, and I believe we ultimately made the best decisions for the team.
